A couple of weeks ago one of my best friends swapped the rainy fields of Wales for the sunny beaches of New Zealand (what a lucky lady eh?!). As much as this was a sad day it was a great excuse to make a fuss of her and get creative!
We put a hamper of gifts together including, photos, notes, presents, sort of like a mini survival kit, and decorated the house in bunting, flags and the colours of New Zealand. Unfortunately, Bethan didn't even know what the New Zealand flag looked like and at first wondered why we had decorated the house in Australian flags.... *sigh*.... But when it finally sunk in the tears began to flow <3
One of my favourite things to do was illustrating a card for her to wish her on her way. As an illustrator I always feel guilty buying people cards when I know I can quite easily make them myself and create something a lot more personal. With that being said I definitely couldn't skimp on such an important occasion!
It's always been a little dream of mine to set up a little shop selling cards, stationary, prints and textiles all covered in my illustrations, so this served as a great opportunity to test out my card making skills. I managed to create AND print the card professionally for the same cost as buying one from the shop so there really is no excuse now.
In order to make this dream a reality I finally took the plunge yesterday and ordered some prints of my work to sell in an online shop. Hopefully it will be up and running in the next few weeks so check back for updates on that soon :)
